April 24
Picked up yhe ceiling tiles for the suspended ceiling. The decision to install a suspended ceiling was based on some pre-existing electrical junction boxes that would require rewireing other areas of the house to eliminate. The suspended ceiling will allow access to the ceiling area in the future for any services that need to be worked on.
The ceiling tiles are made of MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) are are meant to be painted or stained. The ceiling grid is a system called CeilingMax, a new product is surface mounted to the joists (doesn't require a drop between the joists and the tiles).

Themeing aylard.ca
The process of developing a custom theme for the aylard.ca website is well underway. A decision was made to start with a blank slate and build the theme manually. A custom Zen sub- theme was developed for acbsbw.com. Based on the experience working with the zen theme, I didn't see a substantial benefit for using the Zen theme.
Al discovers video
Jo and I have been taking care of our grand niece, Abagail, for the last couple of days. It seemed like the perfect time to discover video production on a shoe string budget. Since my old digital camera has video capabilities, I set tu the tripod and shot some movies. Now it was time to edit the videos, mix in some audio tracks and publish the videos. I found a free video editor, VideoPad, at www.nchsoftware.com
OpenCPN
A friend suggested that I look at OpenCPN, an open source navigation and charting application from SourceForge. OpenCPN supports many chart formats, including ENC. NOAA provides free ENC charts for the US coastal areas and the Great Lakes.
Abagail
We went into London on Saturday to pick up Abagail. Abby spent the day at the Market and Lee Valley Tools. She completely disrupted the operation at Lee Valley while she was there. Abby spent the night back in the Grove. Jeff and Tanya picked her up on Sunday afternoon after a very enjoyable visit.
An end after 32 years
After 32 years working for the same company, I'm looking for work. There just weren't any assignments open at the time my last assignment ended. The last assignment provided some consulting experience in areas outside of the IT area. I found the process control area very interesting and was able to bring a new aspect to my resume.
I hate Internet Explorer
While working on the forum on acbsbw.com, I found that Internet Explorer was not applying my main css style sheet.
Some pages would display properly and some would not.
I tracked the problem down to a limitation in IE. It seems that IE will only load a maximum of 30 style sheets and will just ignore the rest. My style sheet was the 31st.
