iCal feeds to Google and Yahoo calendars
I began the testing of the iCal feeds from the Drupal Calendars on my test site. Each of the three calendars on the site will have iCal feeds configured. Some clients have asked for the ability to be able to see all their calendars in one place. The clients use both Yahoo and Google for their personal calendars. The Google calendar is currently configured to include calendar events for the next 3 years starting at the current date. So what was the results of the testing?
Both Yahoo and Google were able to configure a new calendar and import the events from the iCal feed. But there are differences in how well the two calendar systems worked.
Yahoo
Yahoo has a function that will allow you to manually reload the calendar from the iCal feed. This was tested and was found to work as expected.
Google
Google doesn't seem to support a manual reload function. The automatic reload of the iCal feed seems to be triggered very infrequently (once every 24 hrs).
Testing is continuing on this functionality, but at this time it seems that if you want a Web based calendar that will work with external iCal feeds, Yahoo seems to have the clear lead.
