If a photo walk is the act of walking with a camera for the main purpose of taking pictures of things that the photographer may find interesting, then a wedding walk is the act of attending a wedding for the main purpose of taking pictures of things that the photographer may find interesting.
But where do you find a wedding where you will be welcome to make photographs at?
The answer would be PhotoTips.biz James Beltz has been organizing free wedding walks and inviting photographer to participate. There is no better way to learn about wedding photography than to do it, the wedding walk gives you the opportunity to learn in a relatively low stress real life environment. These are real weddings, not some staged event. The photos taken by the wedding walk participants are submitted for inclusion in the wedding album or gallery given to the couple. The ability to make some great photos for a portfolio was well worth the expense.
I was fortunate to be able to attend a traditional East Indian wedding walk in Cleveland, Ohio. To be given free run of a very unique wedding was an amazing opportunity. The colours were amazing, the people were very freindly, making this the perfect venue to hone the art of wedding and event photography.
But it wasn't just a walk in the park, there were long days and self imposed pressure to make the best possible photogrphs.
The results were amazing....
